Step#1: Get your equipment ready: 

Your first step is to bring all the utensils you need together. Wash them carefully and dry. Here’s a list of equipment you might need.

  • Salad bowl (oval glass type)
  • Cutting board
  • Garlic press
  • Scrape shovel

Once you have all your equipment ready, it’s time to start gathering the ingredients you need.

Caesar salad originated from Tijuana, Mexico. According to the food’s history, Caesar Cardini, an Italian-American restaurateur, invented the salad in 1924. 

The Cardinis moved to Los Angeles from Tijuana, and there they had their famous salad dressing patented. All these happened in 1948. 

Now back to the question. What is Caesar salad? It’s a green salad comprising of croutons and romaine lettuce, dressed with olive oil, lemon juice, egg, anchovies, garlic, Worcestershire, Dijon mustard, black pepper, and Parmesan cheese.  

It won’t be proper to state that Caesar salad tastes better than garden salad. The taste is subjective. The constituents in a salad determine its taste. Most people may prefer certain ingredients others may not like to have in their salad.

Home-Made Caesar Salad: A Step By Step Guide

The following explains how to make Caesar salad step by step. Read and follow the steps to make yours at home. 

Step#1: Prepare the ingredients ready:

Get the things you need before you start. We have mentioned them above. All that you need to do is to buy the ones you don’t have in the kitchen. 

Peel, wash, or smash the ingredient you need to prepare that way. If you have them ready this way, you’ll find it easier to make Caesar salad that will satisfy a group of persons. 

Step#2: Combine garlic and olive oil:

Get a large bowl; add your smashed garlic and olive oil. Stir both ingredients for a while. After stirring, allow them to sit for 30 minutes before proceeding to the next step. 

Step#3: Prepare your toasted croutons:

You can do this while your garlic and olive oil sits. To make the toasted croutons, get your baguette slice prepared.

Spread the baguette on a baking sheet. You can have it lined with a silicone mat or parchment paper. 

Now spray with olive oil and allow it to boil for some minutes. If the top starts looking brown, know it’s ready for use. 

Note: You don’t need it to be burnt. A brown top is what you need. So, don’t move an inch during this process. Keep in mind that it can go from brown to burnt within the twinkling of an eye. 

Step#4: Prepare the dressing:

Add two eggs and anchovies to the mixture comprising garlic and olive oil. Whisk all ingredients together until they become creamy. Now you can add your pepper, salt, and lemon juice. Now have them whisked in your Parmesan cheese, half of it.  

Note: Your lemon juice should only give the salad dressing an edge. It shouldn’t overwhelm it. 

Step#5: Use your romaine lettuce:

It’s time to unleash your romaine lettuce. What you should do is use your bare hand to tear off a chunk of the lettuce. There’s no need to use a knife. 

Now, add the oil mixture to the lettuce and toss until it becomes coated. After that, add the remaining Parmesan cheese and toss.  

Step#6: Combine and consume your Caesar salad:  

At this last stage, what you have to do is chop your toasted bread, add it to the salad and toss gently. Add every single crumb that falls to the ground too.
